JAKARTA, INDONESIA HOUSE
The
house is situated in front of the northern coast of Jakarta, Indonesia. The
city of Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia located in Southeast Asia. Jakarta
lies on a low and flat basin ranged from 7 to 26 feet above sea level. Because
it is located very close to the equator, Jakarta’s weather will never drop
below 70 ยบ F causing
the climate to be very hot and humid year round. The culture in Jakarta is very
diverse because of the immigrants ranging from Dutch, Portuguese, Sudanese,
Japanese, Chinese and Arabic. The people of Jakarta have several performing
arts centers because it is part of their culture to practice performing arts
and they love it.
The
client is a retired single male in his late 40’s living in Indonesia. He loves
nature, art, traveling, and swimming. It is a vacation home for him since the
client likes to travel and explore the world. The client wants a house similar
to his house in Southern California. The house I am designing for the client consists
of 3 levels. The ground level has a swimming pool on its exterior in the front
of the house where the client has a clear view of the Jakarta gulf. The first
floor has a comfortable living room, spacious kitchen, and a relaxing bathroom.
There are stairs with glass and metal railing located in the middle of the
first floor that spirals up onto the second floor. The second floor has a
grassy balcony where he can see a great view of the city of Indonesia from
afar. The balcony has a garden like scene to it, the grass is perfectly cut,
shrubs planted along the railing, and palm trees are planted on each corner. The
interior of the second floor are the master bedroom along with a guest bedroom
and a roomy bathroom. There is a library where the client can do his artwork. The
roof has a huge solar panel that absorbs sunlight all day to provide
electricity during nighttime. The second floor also overlaps the first floor
halfway to cover half the pool, so the client can have shade when needed.
