Nguyen Residence

DESIGN DESCRIPTION
Location: San Diego,CA

The living space is designed for Priscilla Nguyen and her two dogs. The goal of the demolition plan was to provide more open space between the social areas which are: kitchen, dining room, and living room. The hallway was taken down to provide a bigger area for the social zone as well as expanding the master bathroom, the master bedroom has a walk in closet for storage purposes and it also separated the noise level between the living room and the bedroom. The main bathroom is very spacious for a comfortable feeling while you’re in it. Both bathrooms have excellent ventilation with LED lighting for energy saving purposes. The second bedroom is converted into a dog room for the dogs. In the dog room, there is a dog shower area where she can keep her dogs and it would keep her house clean. There is also a variety of windows and a glass sliding door for ventilation to lessen the dog smell. The living room, dining room, and kitchen belong to an open area where she can easily socialize with her family and friends when they come over. There is an ecofriendly fireplace in the living room, where it burns bioethanol. Bioethanol is a renewable energy source made from sugar and starch components of a plant’s by products and it only releases clean emission. There is an abundance of natural lighting coming from the windows during the daytime where the marble flooring will absorb the heat and release heat during nighttime. The kitchen consists of ecofriendly materials, with the countertop consisting of recycled glass and the cabinets being made from end-grain bamboo. The recycled glass countertop is green and bamboo cabinet does not produce indoor air pollution, avoiding cabinets that do emit air pollution, which is a great choice for the client. There is a storage space separating the garage and the living space from having carbon dioxide entering the space. The washer and dryer are also in the storage space to allow the living area to have a spacious feeling to it. Everything in the house is energy efficient.
